The Picker Interdisciplinary Science Institute has announced this year’s awards supporting interdisciplinary research, training, and student-centered scholarship at Colgate.

After a semester of studying and researching ecological theory, students in Professors Catherine Cardelús and Eddie Watkins’ Tropical Ecology course embarked on a three-week expedition across Peru.

Students working together to make kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, tempeh, and sourdough learned how fermentation creates transformation through communities of bacteria and what humans can learn from food and from one another.

The elective designation, awarded by the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation, recognizing the University’s continuing commitment to community engagement and partnerships.

The second year of the Tuck Business Bridge Program at Colgate kicked off in early January with 40 students returning to campus. They participated in more than two weeks of intensive programming designed to prepare for internships and careers, while building connections among students, alumni, and top-ranked Tuck faculty.

This academic year marks the 10th anniversary of Ciccone Commons, the first Residential Commons established at ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï. Since its launch in 2015, the program has grown to four communities that gather students with similar interests and passions to extend learning beyond the classroom.
